Three-time champions USA finalize roster for U17 Women's World Cup

COLORADO (FIBA U17 Women's Basketball World Cup 2018) - The USA have confirmed their list of 12 players tasked with re-claiming the FIBA U17 Women's Basketball World Cup title in Minsk, in July.

The roster features eight players that helped USA power their way to the title at the 2017 FIBA U16 Women's Americas Championship, including tournament MVP, Aliyah Boston.

Also on the final roster are Samantha Brunelle - the only returnee from the 2016 U17 squad - Paige Bueckers and Zia Cooke, who joined Boston among the country's players to have averaged double figures in scoring at last year's tournament in Buenos Aires.

"I'm really excited - thrilled with the 12 the committee selected," said USA head coach Carla Berube. "I think it's a great combination of players that complement each other really well. I'm excited to get back here in July and get to work, and get us prepared to win the gold in Belarus."

Haley Jones, Charisma Osborne, Cameron Brink and Hailey Van Lith are the new additions to the squad that was whittled down from 18 over six training sessions at the United States Olympic Training Center, in Colorado.

Having won the competition's first three editions in 2010, 2012 and 2014, the USA saw their winning run ended by eventual champions Australia in Zaragoza two years ago.

The USA's opening game in Minsk will be against Italy, with China and 2017 Africa U16 champions, Mali completing their Group B opponents.
