Spain give chance to 15 players to make it to Minsk

MADRID (FIBA U17 Women’s Basketball World Cup 2018) – Spain are ready to realize their dreams at the FIBA U17 Women’s Basketball World Cup and have named the pool of players they will be relying on.

Much of their 15-strong squad is drawn from those who participated at the FIBA U16 Women’s European Championship 2017 in Bourges when they had to settle for 5th place, despite only losing one game.

The team will be coached by Miguel Ortega who recently departed from Perfumerias Avenida in EuroLeague Women.

He will be looking for his players to make a splash in the Belarusian capital and will be pinning his hopes on frontcourt ace Raquel Carrera, as well as guard duo Laura Mendez and Helena Pueyo.

The trio impressed in Bourges last year and the likes of Carrera have also made significant strides in Liga Femenina 2 at club level.

Spain are scheduled to face Argentina, Hungary and New Zealand in the opening phase
