Latvia shine a light on debut line-up

RIGA (2016 FIBA U17 Women's World Championship) - Latvia have revealed their line-up for what is an eagerly anticipated debut at the FIBA U17 Women's World Championship in Zaragoza.

Having originally started the search with a 23-strong candidate list, play-caller Liga Alilujeva has worked to trim down her talent pool to the required 12 players who will compete in Group A against Canada, Japan and Nigeria.

Latvia 12-player roster for 2016 FIBA U17 Women's World Championship
Aleksa Gulbe Katrina Karkle Marianna Kļaviņa Sabine Lipe
Laura Meldere Mara Mote Jete Nulle Nikola Ozola
Janeta Rozentale Kecija Keita Salcevica Luize Septe Sindija Smirnova

Aleksa Gulbe and Luize Septe could prove to be the twin turbos who once again power Latvia towards success as they make their global debut.

The pair both averaged double-digit points returns last year at the FIBA U16 Women's European Championship, with the former going to work inside and Septe pulling the strings in the backcourt.

Also on board from the team that made history in Matosinhos are the likes of Janeta Rozentale whose rebounding should be a factor, while Latvia will be hoping that Kecija Keita Salcevica can once again find the hot-hand from behind the three-point line.
