All change for Oldaker and USA

COLORADO SPRINGS (2016 FIBA U17 Women's World Championship) - There has been a dramatic change of personnel for USA ahead of Zaragoza after they opted to replace their entire roster from last year’s FIBA Americas U16 Women's Championship.

While head coach Dori Oldaker survived the disappointment of their unprecedented and underwhelming third place finish, the players involved have not and it means 12 fresh faces will be unveiled at the 2016 FIBA U17 Women's World Championship.

The decision came off the back of extensive trials which had witnessed 139 hopefuls step out at the United States Olympic Training Center. The 12 chosen players will return to Colorado Springs for training camp next week.

"With the finalists that we had, the committee could not go wrong," said Oldaker after the selection was confirmed.

"I think the 12 that we have are outstanding young ladies on and off the floor, extremely coachable. I'm very, very excited to get back here Wednesday and get started with training camp.

"First and foremost, their work ethic is amazing and so is their togetherness and teamwork.

“You can see that they really love to take care of each other on the floor. They are always looking for the best opportunities for their team-mates."

USA are bidding to land a fourth consecutive FIBA U17 Women’s World Championship title but face a tricky opening phase where they will be expected to beat Korea, but could face significant tests against two highly fancied European sides in Czech Republic and Italy.
