    U18 Americas duo Patterson, Bediako included in Canada’s U17 training camp

    TORONTO (FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup 2018) - Addison Patterson and Charles Bediako are playing for Canada at the U18 Americas Championship 2018 but are also in the 17-man roster for the U17 World Cup.

    TORONTO (FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup 2018) - Addison Patterson and Charles Bediako will both be playing for Canada at the FIBA U18 Americas Championship 2018 but were included in the country's 17-man preliminary squad for the FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup 2018.

    Head coach Kirby Schepp has nominated the duo for the training camp at Toronto's Humber College from June 11-16 even though they will be unable to participate since they are playing for Canada at the U18 Americas tournament from June 10-16 in St. Catherines, Canada.

    Patterson is considered one of Canada's next generational star talents while Bediako is the younger brother of Jaden Bediako, who will also be on the U18 team.

    Charles Bediako is one of nine players who helped Canada reach the Final of the FIBA U16 Americas Championship 2017 along with top scorer Cashius McNeilly.

    The Canadian group has some very good size with 11 of the 17 players standing 6ft 7in (2.00m) or taller including 7ft 2in (2.18m) Zachry Edey.

    After the training camp, Schepp will bring the team to Mexico City on June 17 for pre-competition training from June 18-21, followed by one more training camp in Argentina from June 23-27.

    Canada are drawn into Group C with Egypt, Montenegro and New Zealand.
