Australia, Korea win nail-biters to reach Quarter-Finals

ZARAGOZA (2016 FIBA U17 World Championship) - Australia survived a thriller with Bosnia and Herzegovina to reach the Quarter-Finals of the 2016 FIBA U17 World Championship while Korea won the battle of Asia over China on a day full of blowouts otherwise.

Dragan Elkaz scored 17 of his 25 points in the fourth quarter as Australia beat Bosnia and Herzegovina 75-72. Elkaz nailed four of his six three-pointers in the final period and also finished with 8 rebounds and 3 assists. In Thursday's Quarter-Finals, the Australians will face hosts Spain, who didn't even need injured top gun Miguel Gonzalez in cruising to a 112-60 victory over Chinese Taipei. Sergi Martinez paced Spain with 25 points while Joel Parra and Osas Ehigiator had 17 each.

The other nail-biter saw Korea knock off China 75-70 to reach the Final Eight for the first time. Korea will next take on the three-time undefeated reigning champions USA, who took care of Argentina with a 109-56 victory. Collin Sexton and Carte'Are Gordon had 14 points each to lead seven Americans in double figures.

Canada and Turkey both picked up comfortable victories to set up a Quarter-Final showdown. Ignas Brazdeikis and Simi Shittu each had double-doubles in the Canadians' 79-52 win against Dominican Republic. Ragip Berke Atar scored 16 points while Ahmet Can Duran had 8 points and 19 rebounds as Turkey raced past Mali 77-58.

There will be an all-European Quarter-Final between Lithuania and France. The Lithuanians got 9 three-pointers and 34 points combined from Lukas Uleckas and Ignas Sargiunas in an 80-65 victory over Egypt. Ahmed Khalaf collected 26 points, 12 rebounds and 8 blocks for Egypt and Esam Mostafa had 13 points and 18 rebounds in the loss.
