Stewart revels in Seattle home comfort as USA dominate China

SEATTLE (FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup 2018) – Breanna Stewart had the extra thrill of stepping out in front of her army of fans in Seattle as USA showcased their power and depth in a rather scary 83-46 destruction of China.

Despite missing a host of big names including the likes of Maya Moore and Elena Delle Donne, the reigning champions started their warm-up for their FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup title defense later this year in real style. Head coach Dawn Staley watched on intently as 2017 WNBA MVP Sylvia Fowles grabbed a team-high 16 points, while Stewart weighed in with 14.

"It was great to come out and play in our first exhibition game, especially in Seattle," said the Storm favorite.

"I think it's great timing, you know, as [Seattle] training camp starts on Sunday.

"Just to get back out on the court at Key Arena. You know, obviously we always have a lot of support every time we come out on the court here and hopefully we'll [USA] come back and play here some more.

"You know, usually with USA Basketball we don't have a lot of time together, so we did pretty well with the past few days of practice," added Stewart.

"Any time you're able to come out and represent USA it's an honor and it's a lot of fun when you have the other best players in the world just playing around."

The USA team featured five Olympic gold medalists in the shape of Seimone Augustus, Sue Bird, Diana Taurasi, Fowles, and Stewart.

Meanwhile, it was a particularly memorable night for six athletes all playing their first official senior games in Layshia Clarendon, Tiffany Hayes, Jewell Loyd, Kelsey Mitchell, Morgan Tuck and Elizabeth Williams.
