France look to 17 players to start firing them up for Tenerife

PARIS (FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2018) – France have named the 17 players who will participate in the first phase of preparation for the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2018.

The squad will assemble in Saint Girons at the end of July, with the likes of the returning Sandrine Gruda headlining the list, along with recent French Championship winners such as Marine Johannes and Valeriane Ayayi - as well as reigning EuroCup Women champion, Olivia Epoupa.

Any fans panicked by the fact that captain Endene Miyem is not in the list, can be re-assured that she will be considered for selection once her WNBA commitments with Minnesota Lynx have ended.

France are looking to end what has been a barren run at the tournament, having finished 3rd at the inaugural event in 1953 and not appearing on the podium in the subsequent 65 years.

They will tip-off against Korea in the Group phase and then face Greece and Canada.
