Semi-Finals lineup confirmed as Kazakhstan and Indonesia make the last four

AMMAN (Jordan) - The Semi-Finals of the FIBA Women's Asia Cup 2021 Division B are now set after Kazakhstan and Indonesia snapped up the last two tickets to join Jordan and Lebanon in the last four.

Kazakhstan had little difficulty in breezing past Syria 87-69 as it proved to be third time lucky for Vitaliy Strebkov and his side who had started with two horror losses.

Things finally clicked, with some great three-point shooting in the first quarter breeding confidence and providing a launch-pad for a much needed victory.

Zalina Kurazova has been the one big plus throughout for Kazakhstan, even during dark times in those first two defeats and the forward was outstanding again with 18 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists.

However, this time, a big difference-maker was Tamara Yagodkina finally coming alive. Her stellar line of 30 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists suggested that perhaps the Semi-Final matchup against host nation Jordan will not be quite be as one-sided as some might be expecting.

Indonesia will face Lebanon in the other Semi-Final after they eventually saw off Iran 76-68. It proved to be a tough task as Iran again showed their longer term potential with another close game. It evoked memories of their first day flirting of an upset against Lebanon before just falling short.

The dominance of Kim Pierre-Louis in the paint was a huge factor and she finished with a game-winning performance of 19 points and 11 rebounds as Iran struggled to cope with her inside. Her frontcourt partner Gabriel Sophia also weighed in with a double-double of 10 points and 10 boards.

Shadi Abodlvand had 17 points and 7 assists in defeat, with Edna Eissaianjangi adding 16 points for Iran, who will play Syria for fifth place on Friday ahead of the Semi-Finals.
