PYONGYANG (FIBA Women’s Asia Cup 2017) – Pak Hyang Jong and Ro Suk Yong are set to inspire D.P.R. of Korea when they take their first footsteps in the main tier of the FIBA Women’s Asia Cup 2017.

PYONGYANG (FIBA Women’s Asia Cup 2017) – Pak Hyang Jong and Ro Suk Yong are set to inspire D.P.R. of Korea when they take their first footsteps in the main tier of the FIBA Women’s Asia Cup 2017.

After the joy of promotion two years ago in Bangkok when they posted five wins from their six outings, it will be fascinating to see if D.P.R. of Korea can compete effectively in Division A.

Standing in their way of survival in Bengaluru – or maybe something even more special, are Group A opponents China, Chinese Taipei and New Zealand.

They will be looking for their two main stars from 2015 to bring the kind of form they showed in Wuhan, when Pak Hyang Jon regularly caught fire from long-range. She ended up registering an eye-catching and team-high tally of 19.2 points per game.

Meanwhile the do-it-all approach of frontcourt favorite Ro Suk Yong could once again prove decisive. Or at least if she also recaptures her form. She was a pillar of strength for D.P.R. of Korea with a magnificent tournament double-double of 16 points and 11.5 rebounds per game.

The tournament will also have some historical significance as it will be the first time that D.P.R. of Korea have competed in consecutive editions of the competition.
