FIBA celebrates International Women's Day by launching new Women's AmeriCup 2021 social media profiles

MIAMI (United States) - FIBA will launch three new social media pages in an effort to further their commitment to growing the game of women's basketball and supporting women's coverage in the Americas. The social media profiles will be dedicated to inspire, connect, and expand the FIBA Women's AmeriCup tournament leading to its June 2021 date.

The profiles will be launched on March 8th, in honor of International Women's Day. FIBA AmeriCup Women's tournament will now have dedicated Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts, to showcase the athletes and national teams in our region that will be competing in this summer.

"Women’s basketball is one of the primary pillars for us at FIBA, and our idea is to engage and grow the community that follow the game as it leads to the AmeriCup tournament in the summer," said Carlos Alves, executive director of FIBA Americas region.

"We want to create and distribute exciting content that our fans and athletes can in enjoy to celebrate women in basketball."

The FIBA Women's AmeriCup is the most prestigious basketball competition for women in the Americas region and was last held in 2019 in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

The games are taking place just weeks before the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games, with many players participating and representing their country in both tournaments.

Though the host for this summer's competition is not confirmed, the week-long tournament will be filled with athletes currently in the WNBA, Euroleague and other women's professional leagues across the globe.

The FIBA Women's AmeriCup 2021 takes place from June 11th to June 19th 2021. You can follow all the preparation leading up to the games by following @americupw on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.
