The host was confirmed by the FIBA Americas Zone Executive Committee, chaired by FIBA Americas President Mr. Usie Richards.

"It is with great satisfaction that we announce Buenos Aires, Argentina as the host of the FIBA Women's AmeriCup 2017, an event that has given us so many wonderful and emotional basketball moments in the past and which we are confident will give us many more in the 2017 edition." said Richards.

The contract was signed by Federico Susbielles, President of the Argentina Basketball Confederation, and Alberto Garcia, Executive Director of FIBA in the Americas.

"The Argentina Basketball Confederation has been consistent in supporting women's basketball and hosting this event, giving its senior national team an opportunity to play at home, conifirms this effort and dedication to go even further in promoting our sport within the country.", added the FIBA Americas President

"We are very happy. Being able to host this tournament was one of our great priorities for the year. "We believe that our team has a lot of potential and we are confident they will put up a great performance while trying to secure a spot in the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup next year in Spain. In addition, I think, it will be a great help to continue promoting women's basketball all over the country", concluded Susbielles.

The 2015 edition of the FIBA Women's AmeriCup 2017 was held in Edmonton, Canada where the hosts dominated the competition and lifted the trophy in undefeated fashion. Cuba came in second place and Argentina won the bronze medal.
