DR Congo's head coach Ade: ''We will play our hearts out in the Game 2''

YAOUNDE (Cameroon) – On Saturday night, the Democratic Republic of Congo suffered a crushing 91-46 loss to Cameroon in Game one of the FIBA Women’s AfroBasket 2019 Zone 4 Qualifiers at the Yaoundé Sports Complex.

Cameroon dominated all four quarters against DR Congo to seal a crucial win and Congo’s head coach Koko Ade believes his team didn’t play to its full potential.

"I’m not sure this is what I expected to see against Cameroon. We didn’t play at our best level against Cameroon and I felt the players were overwhelmed by the pressure and the stakes of the game."

“We played as there was nothing at stake and my players looked very tired but this is something I can understand."

“We didn’t have enough time to prepare with the team but after today’s game we know what to expect and we have been able to identify our weaknesses. We don’t want to complain about anything. We will play with style tomorrow in Game two.”

Despite suffering a 45 point deficit against Cameroon in the first leg, Coach Ade believes his team can turn around the second leg and qualify against the odds.

“We will play our hearts out in the Game 2 and I believe we can do well if we set up just like we did in the second half."

"In the first two quarters we sunk in 14 points but in the third quarter alone, we netted in 15 points and in the last quarter we put in 17 points. We have to play our game and I’m certain we’ll be able to get a win and qualify for the FIBA Women's AfroBasket 2019."
