Guinea's 12 players ready for Bamako showdown

CONAKRY (FIBA Women's AfroBasket 2017) - Guinea's head Ousmane Camara has finalized their roster for the upcoming FIBA Women's AfroBasket 2017.

Among the selected players, six have featured at the 2015 edition of the African Championship, including Senegal-born Khady Mbaye, Simone Gnaraba Keita and Aminata Sylla, who are set to become three-time FIBA Women's AfroBasket participants.

Although Camara - who was at the helm of Guinea two years ago in Cameroon - has kept the core of the team, it's the absence of prolific scorer Mariama Djiba Toure - a talented left-handed guard - that marks their second straight appearance in FIBA Women's AfroBasket.

Nevertheless, they have selected two 19-year-olds Fanta Soumah and Sadan Konte, who are expected to help Guinea improve from their Ninth-Place achieved in 2015.

Guinea have been drawn in the so-called 'group of death', which includes reigning champions Senegal, Nigeria, Egypt, Mozambique and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

From Friday, August 18, Guinea will be among the twelve African nations competing for two tickets for the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup 2018 in Spain.
