Cote d'Ivoire's Kouyate sisters set to play together for first time in six years

ABIDJAN (FIBA Women's AfroBasket 2017) - Cote d'Ivoire's Kani Kouyate ace and her older sister Mariama are set to return to Mali where they last played together for their country six years ago.

At the time, 20-year-old Kani led the Ivoirians in scoring with 14 points per game, although they finished in Eighth-Place.

Two years later, Kani sparked the 'Elephants' with yet another stellar performances of team-highs 14.9 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.5 dimes per game, but Mariama had stayed home.

Meanwhile, Cote d'Ivoire head coach Simon Guillou has confirmed the Kouyates' reunion as he finalized their roster for the FIBA Women's AfroBasket 2017 to be held in Mali from Friday, August 18-27.

After failing qualification for the 2015 edition of FIBA Women's AfroBasket in Cameroon, Cote d'Ivoire beat Benin in a two-game qualifier to mark their return to FIBA Africa's flagship women's basketball event.

They have been drawn in Group A along with hosts Mali, Central African Republic, Angola, Cameroon and Tunisia.

Two wins in as many warm-up games over Cameroon last week in Abidjan has raised Cote d'Ivoire's morale, who will try to do battle for one of two tickets for African teams for next year's FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup in Spain.
