Brazil's Dos Santos wins U18 South American MVP, leads All-Star Five

 

MIAMI (United States) – Brazilian Reynan Dos Santos was voted Most Valuable Player and led the All-Star Five of the FIBA ​​U-18 South American Championship on Saturday, in Caracas, Venezuela.

The 1.73m shooting guard scored 17 points in the Final to lead Brazil to victory against Argentina and was the protagonist of several of the best plays with his spectacular dunks and showed jumping and physical power rarely seen at this level.

In all, he averaged a team-leading 14.5 points, along with 3.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals.

The rest of the All-Star Five was made up of:

Dylan Bordon (Argentina)

Bordon led the Argentine team and showed a very good technical skill set. He led his squad with 15.2 points and 4.2 assists (tied for second in the tournament). He also averaged 4.4 rebounds and 1.8 steals.

Gabriel Landeira (Brazil)

The team captain came off the bench in all the games but was one of those who contributed the most for the champions. In the Final he was one of the leading scorers with 17 and averaged 12.2 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists.

Lee Aaliya (Argentina)

He produced on both ends of the floor for the runners-up and was vital to the group's success. He shot over 50 percent from the field (52%) for an average of 10.2 points. In defense he contributed big with 4.8 rebounds, 1.4 blocks and 1.0 steals per game.

Joseph Caidedo (Ecuador)

The center showed tremendous versatility scoring under the basket and from long range. Together with Janer Arcila, he was essential for Ecuador to get on the podium. He finished as tournament leader in scoring (16.2 units) and three-pointers (7-15 for 47%) and second in rebounding (8.4).
