Argentina vs. Venezuela and Colombia vs. Chile in the South American U17 Semi-Finals

SUCRE (FIBA U18 Women’s Americas Championship 2018) – The Semi-Finals of the South American U17 Women’s Championship will see Argentina take on Venezuela and Colombia take on Chile after the results of Day 3 of the qualifying tournament.

Ecuador took the third position of Group A after a 90-46 win over Uruguay. Ecuador dominated from the get-go after a 15-8 first quarter. With great additions from Samy Bacilio, the Ecuadorians secured the win after capturing a 22-point lead in the second half. Bacilio led Ecuador with a 13-point and 10-rebound double-double.

Colombia took the top spot of Group A after a 64-55 win over Venezuela. Colombia captured an early lead after winning the first quarter 26-12. Venezuela won the second half, but the lead captured by Colombia during the first half was too much to overcome. Colombia celebrated the win, and Yuliany Paz was phenomenal for the Colombians with a 13-point and 13-rebound double-double.

Chile qualified to the Semi-Finals of the South American U17 Women’s Championship after an 80-52 win over Peru. Chile dominated from the get-go and won all the quarters to secure the win and the qualification. Chile shot for a 45% from the field, and was led offensively by a 12-point and 10-assist double-double from Thiare Garcia.

Argentina secured the top of Group B after a powerful and dominating win over Bolivia, 100-33. Argentina captured the lead from the start after a 24-11 first quarter. Argentina followed up with a 24-4 second quarter and secured the win by winning the remaining quarters. The Argentinians shot for a 51% from the field and were led offensively by 19 points from Sofia Acevedo.

Tomorrow on the Reclassification Round of the South American U17 Women’s Championship, Ecuador will take on Bolivia and Peru will face Uruguay. Meanwhile in the Semi-Finals, Argentina will take on Venezuela and Colombia will face Chile.

The top three teams from the South American U17 Women’s Championship will qualify to the FIBA U18 Women’s Americas Championship 2018.
