Argentina claim the South American U17 Women’s Championship

SUCRE (FIBA U18 Women’s Americas Championship 2018) – Argentina defeated Colombia 71-55 in the final game to claim the South American U17 Women’s Championship unbeaten. Chile won Bronze over Venezuela in a dramatic 69-64 win.

Argentina claimed the South American U17 Women’s Championship for the third time in history, after a 71-55 win over Colombia. Argentina won the first half of the game with a 6-point lead, but it was in the third quarter that the Argentine took a commanding lead after a 27-18 quarter. Argentina celebrated the win and the championship, with great contributions from Sofia Acevedo and Florencia Chagas, who added 22 and 20 points respectively.

Chile took the Bronze Medal and the last ticket available to the FIBA U18 Women’s Americas Championship after a 69-64 win over Chile. Chile won the first three quarters and withstood a last quarter effort from Venezuela to celebrate the Bronze medal. Odeth Betancourt was the best for Venezuela, with a 19-point and 14-rebound “double-double”.

In the other games of the day, Bolivia defeated Uruguay 61-59 to claim 7th-place and Ecuador defeated Peru 85-40 to take the 5th-possition.
