Brazil and Uruguay to play for the title of the South American U15 Championship

MONTEVIDEO (FIBA U16 Americas Championship 2019) – Brazil and Uruguay earned the right to play for the Gold Medal of the South American U15 Championship 2018 after getting wins at the Semi-Finals of the regional championship.

In the first Semi-Final, Brazil defeated Argentina in an overtime thriller. Led by 28 points and 11 rebounds from Felipe Motta, the Brazilians dominated the extra minutes by 19-13 to capture the win and the ticket to the Finals. Augusto Roveres led the Argentinians with 12 points and 15 rebounds.

The host of the South American U15 Championship earned the right to play at the Gold Medal game after defeating Venezuela at the Semi-Finals. The Uruguayans dominated from the get-go and captured a comfortable lead after a 25-9 third quarter. The Uruguayans celebrated the win and the qualification to the FIBA U16 Americas Championship 2019.

Meanwhile in the Reclassification Round, Chile defeated Ecuador 85-46 and Paraguay defeated Colombia 62-56.

Tomorrow on the last day of the South American U15 Championship:
7th Place – Ecuador vs Colombia
5th Place – Chile vs Paraguay
Bronze Medal Game – Argentina vs Venezuela
Gold Medal Game – Brazil vs Uruguay

Brazil and Uruguay secured their ticket to the FIBA U16 Americas Championship 2019. The winner of the Bronze Medal Match will also qualify to the continental championship.
