ASUNCION (2017 FIBA Americas U16 Championship) – Argentina took gold at the South American U15 Championship after defeating Paraguay in the final of the regional championship. Venezuela took the last spot on the after beating Uruguay in the match for bronze.

Argentina defeated the hosts in the final, 69-60 and lifted the championship trophy after dominating the last quarter 20-10. Bertona Gaston was the top scorer for the champions after hitting 26 points in the final.

Venezuela took the bronze of the South American competition by defeating Uruguay, 69-62, after dominating the last quarter 26-20. The best scorer for the Venezuelans was Tony Gonzalez with 18 points.

With their medal finish, Argentina, Paraguay and Venezuela qualified to the FIBA Americas U16 Championship 2017.
