Venezuela defeat Brazil, set-up South American Semi-Finals

CARACAS (South American Championship) – Venezuela secured the first position of Group A, by defeating Brazil, 70-60. Tomorrow, on the Semi-Finals, Venezuela will take on Uruguay and Brazil will face Argentina.

• Turning Point: Brazil recovered from a slight disadvantage on the scoreboard and tied the score at 57, during the fourth quarter. Venezuela responded with a 9 – 0 run, but Brazil refused to let go and responded with a three-pointer from Fulvio. Venezuela kept adding on the scoreboard and took the victory.

• Stats don’t lie: Venezuela shot for a 50% from the field.

• Game Hero: Dwight Lewis was the top scorer for Venezuela with 16 points.

• The Bottom Line: Venezuela tops Group A, with a perfecto 4-0 record. Tomorrow, on the Semi-Finals, Venezuela will take on Uruguay and Brazil will face Argentina, to get into the Finals. Meanwhile, on the game for seventh place, Bolivia will take on Chile and in the game for fifth place, Paraguay will take on Colombia.
