After completing their preparation tour through Brazil, Chile will reconvene again on 15 June at the country's Olympic Training Center. On 18 June, the national team will travel to Lima, Peru, where they will face Peru in a two-game series.
After their stay in Peruvian soil, Chile will travel to the host city of the South American Championship, where in the days before the event they will continue their preparation with friendly matches against Brazil and Argentina.
Chile will be part of Group B along with Argentina, Peru, Colombia and Uruguay, while Group A is made up of Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia, Brazil and Paraguay.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the Semi-Finals where the winners will play the next day for the gold medal of the competition. The losers will play for bronze. Likewise, the teams finishing in 3rd place of the group stage will play for 5th place, and the teams in fourth position will play for 7th place.
5th place in the competition is particularly important with the teams that finish in the top five automatically qualifying to Division A of FIBA's new competition system, which enables participation in the Qualifiers for the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup.
