Argentina top Group B, qualify for Semi-Finals along with Uruguay

CARACAS (South American Championship) – Argentina remains perfect after defeating Colombia, 97-69, to qualify for the Semi-Finals of the 2016 South American Championship.

• Turning Point: During the first half, Argentina’s effectiveness and ball rotation on offense created a slight 8-point lead that will remain thorough the rest of the game.

• Stats don’t lie: Argentina shot for a 59% from the field.

• Game Hero: Leo Mainoldi was the top scorer of the game with 15 points. In a losing effort, Michael Jackson accumulated 24 points for Colombia.

• The Bottom Line: Argentina finishes group phase of the South American Championship with the top of Group B, and as a result the Argentinians qualified to the Semi-Finals of the South American Championship and to America’s Division A of FIBA’s New Competition System. Uruguay also qualified to both the Semi-Finals and Division A of the FIBA Competition System. In the Semi-Finals, Argentina will be taking on the second place of Group A and Uruguay will be facing the top team from Group A.
