Belarus, China, France, Spain and Turkey complete line-up for Rio 2016 Women's Olympic Basketball Tournament

Groups and schedule finalised for Women's Olympic Basketball Tournament

NANTES, France (Rio 2016 Olympic Games) - The groups and schedule for the Women's Olympic Basketball Tournament at the Rio 2016 Games have been finalised following the conclusion of the 2016 FIBA Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament (WOQT) on Sunday.

Belarus, China, France, Spain and Turkey secured qualification for the Summer Games in Brazil through the 12-team event which took place from 13-19 June in Nantes, France.

Right after the tournament finished, the five qualified teams were drawn into the two groups of six teams previously determined as part of the Official Draw of the Rio 2016 Women's Olympic Basketball Tournament, held on 11 March at FIBA's headquarters.

Finalised groups for Women's Olympic Basketball Tournament:
Group A: 1. France; 2. Japan; 3. Brazil; 4. Australia; 5. Belarus; 6. Turkey.
Group B: 1. Canada; 2. Spain; 3. USA; 4. Senegal; 5. Serbia; 6. China.

The Women's Olympic Basketball Tournament will take place from 6-20 August. It will open with a Group Phase played in a round robin format (each team faces the other five (5) in its group). The top four (4) classified teams from each group will then move on to the Final Phase which will be played in a standard knock-out system consisting of Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals, Bronze Medal Game and Gold Medal Game.
