George: 'We're fine playing anybody'

RIO DE JANEIRO (Rio 2016 Olympics) - The two-time reigning Olympic champions USA advanced to the Gold Medal Game after beating Spain in Friday's first Semi-Final and they don't seem to have a preference as to who they face come Sunday.

Although the Americans have been challenged on a number of occasions in Rio, Paul George feels either Serbia or Australia should present a great match-up.

"We're fine playing anybody," he said. "We're playing for a goal, that's what is more exciting about it."

While Serbia and Australia are set to battle it out in the second Semi-Final to join the USA in the Gold Medal Game, George insists they will be ready.

"We've seen everything, there won't be no surprises in teams jumping on us. We've played both of those teams [Australia and Serbia] in the Group Phase and it's a re-match, so we know what to expect."

George, who had 6 points and 6 rebounds off the bench in the win over Spain, praised team-mate Klay Thompson, who led the Americans with a team-high 22 points.

“[Klay] He is the guy that his shots are big. He seems like he gets 4 points when he makes 3s, they are just killers. So we definitely tried to find the right hand."

Spain never really backed down, and despite trailing by as many as 15 points, they managed to cut the deficit to 3 points.

George explained it wasn't an easy task holding off the European champions.

"This Spain team is really talented, and we have done a great job against them. We still have some plays that we’d like to take back.. some threes that we shouldn’t give up. But for the most part, we kept a really good team … we limited them offensively. We are communicating a lot better."
