GUAM - The Guam Basketball Confederation revealed the 10 Men and 10 Women selected to represent their nation at the FIBA U18 Oceania Championships 2016 via a press release on Sunday the 25th of September.

Guam is the first national federation to release the full rosters of both the Men’s and Women’s teams ahead of the tournament.

The Oceania Championships in Suva, Fiji from December 5th – 10th will serve as a qualifier for the 2017 FIBA U19 World Championships. Eight Men's and Women's teams participating have been split into two groups and will battle it out to book their place at the FIBA U19 World Championships 2017 which will be held in Cairo Egypt from July 1-9 (Men) and Udine and Cividale del Friuli, Italy from July 22-30 (Women).

Only the top Men's and Women's team will earn a spot to represent Oceania at the World Championships.

"Our Women's team has been preparing diligently for this big event," said Guam women's national team coach Eddie Pelkey. "Although we have been hit with injuries and lost some key size, I'm still confident in our teams ability to compete and retain our Bronze medal, behind powerhouses Australia and New Zealand."

"The U18 men's team has demonstrated a great work ethic and teamwork in preparation for the Oceania Championships," commented Guam U18 men's national team coach Brent Tipton. "They value their teammates on and off the court and are working collectively to achieve our goal to finish in the top three with Australia and New Zealand."

U18 men's player Kobe Sotelo will be looking to show off what he learned earlier this year at the first-ever Basketball Without Borders Camp in Australia.

Team Guam's men find themselves in the same pool as Australia, Fiji and Tahiti, with the Women matched up with New Caledonia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea for the round games.
