New Zealand, Samoa topple opponents
PAPUA NEW GUINEA (FIBA U15 Oceania Championship) - New Zealand sealed a Final match-up with Australia with a resounding 86-27 victory over Fiji.
Zaaliyah Kailahi-Fulu stood at the forefront New Zealand's attack scoring a game-high 20 points for NZL while Alana Paewai added 11 points.
NZL capitalized on Fiji's miscues with a tremendous 52-9 advantage in points from turnovers.
Estelle Kainamoli scattered 13 points for the Fijians and closed their first round campaign with a 1-3 card.
Meanwhile, Samoa dealt host Papua New Guinea a 117-37 win to finish the Group Phase with a 2-2 record.
Tyla Paraha recorded a tournament-high 42 points to lead the Samoans while Cellestin Pauga, Shaylee Coulter-Faamafu, and Oriana Siamaoa chipped in 17, 15 and 12 points respectively.
Samoa burst out of the gates with a blistering 21-4 blast to take the momentum early in the game and never looked back.
Alice Kaiawa top-scored for the host with 19 points.
Samoa will take on Fiji ni the bronze medal game in the Final Phase of the tournament.
