Venezuela delegation visits House of Basketball

MIES - A delegation of the Venezuelan Basketball Federation (FVB) visited FIBA's headquarters on Monday.

Bruno D'Addezzio, the new president of the country's basketball governing body, along with FVB Board member Francisco Delgado met FIBA officials at the House of Basketball.

The FVB's new management was provisionally approved by FIBA's Central Board at its meeting in June and told that abiding by a series of conditions - which are in accordance with the FIBA General Statutes and Internal Regulations - could lead to permanent recognition.

During the meeting, the FVB provided the first status update regarding its compliance to the aforementioned conditions, which cover areas such as governance as well as financial and sporting criteria.

FIBA President Horacio Muratore stressed the important place that Venezuela holds as part of basketball in the Americas. Furthermore, he urged Mr D'Addezzio and Mr Delgado to ensure the FVB keep up their efforts towards achieving compliance with the FIBA regulatory framework and the FIBA Central Board's decision.

FIBA Executive Director Americas Carlos Alves indicated that a key aspect to FVB's success in this matter is a close cooperation with FIBA's Regional Office in the Americas.
