VBF 3x3 Tour secure BRED Bank sponsorship
VANUATU (FIBA OCEANIA) - The highly successful Vanuatu Basketball Federation (VBF) 3x3 Tour announced BRED Bank as their main sponsor for the 2019 season.
Vanuatu Basketball Development Officer Sacha Duthu shared the news with FIBA in an email.
"The VBF contacted some business house in Port-Vila by sending its sponsor brochure. We met the BRED Bank Marketing team in late August, and the discussion went very fast to finalize the deal," said Duthu.
"The financial support given by the BRED Bank will be used to run the tournaments and the prize money for the tour stops and the Grand Finals," he added.
The VBF Tour will officially be named the BRED Bank 3x3 Tour for the 2019 season and will have two categories: Elite and Social Mixed for the competitive and casual level respectively.
"VBF is looking forward to having an intense competition this year, but with the same community atmosphere that we got to create last year when we launched our first 3x3 tour," said Duthu.
BRED Bank also committed their support to the Vanuatu 3x3 national team for the upcoming Pacific Games and future competitions.
"3x3 basketball is on the rise in Vanuatu and we want to ride the momentum and keep on pushing it forward. A competitive national team will give us more support on a national level," said Duthu.
Vanuatu's uptick in 3x3 related activities has increased the interest of the locals to the Olympic-recognized discipline and the national federation's commitment to 3x3 witnessed the impressive climb of the country in the official FIBA 3x3 rankings, currently listed at 65th (3rd in Oceania) and was ranked as high as 50th last year.
