Top five dynamic duos in the FIBA Asia Champions Cup 2017

MANILA (Enzo Flojo's Asia on My Mind) - The continent's best international club tournament has been very exciting so far, and one big reason has been the emergence of dynamic duos for a number of the teams.

Here I will look at a few of the most terrific tandems who have taken the court in Chenzhou, China.

Quincy Douby and Chris Daniels (Al Riyadi Lebanon)

Riyadi remain the only unbeaten team in the competition, and their foreign players have been the biggest reasons why. Douby is currently seventh overall in scoring, while Daniels has been a double-double threat in every game. Together they have formed a very potent and consistent pairing, and it seems there is no stopping them. If they continue to register big numbers, don't be surprised if Riyadi go all the way.

Isaiah Austin and Kiefer Ravena (Chooks-To-Go Philippines)

The Philippine club team have been a little up-and-down through their first four games, but two guys have really risen to the top - Austin and Ravena. Austin's length, athleticism and versatility have turned a lot of heads in Chenzhou, while Ravena's aggressiveness and guile have made him a tough read for their opponents. Needless to say, both will need to bring their A-game if Chooks-To-Go are to upset the hosts in their next game.

Mike Singletary and Jason Brickman (Mono Vampire Thailand)

Mono Vampire would be nowhere if not for Singletary, who has been a tower of power for the Thais. It is no wonder then that he is the most efficient player at the end of the group phase. Brickman, for his part, has not been too shabby, showcasing uncanny offensive instincts, as proven by his ability to score and get his teammates involved. They may get the boot in their next game, but that does not mean watching Singletary and Brickman will cease to be thrilling.

Willie Warren and Arsalan Kazemi (Petrochimi Iran)

Warren was brilliant when Petrochimi blasted Chooks-To-Go on Day 5, and something tells me he still has more in the tank for the knockout rounds. Kazemi, meanwhile, has been outstanding in the frontline for the Iranians. The 2.00m forward has yet to score in double-figures, but he is among the tournament leaders in rebounding and steals. With these two leading the charge, Petrochimi may just make it all the way to the Final and threaten to cop the crown.

Sim Bhullar and Chang Chia-Jung (Taipei Dacin Tigers)

For the most part, the 2.23m Bhullar has lived up to his billing, bullying his way in the paint en route to a near-double-double average. Chang, meanwhile, has stepped up and stepped in to fill the void left by Chou Yi-Hsiang's absence. The 28-year-old Chang is among the top 10 scorers in the tournament and hitting nearly 44% from beyond the arc. Dacin have a great inside-outside combo here, and if these two explode in their next game, anything can happen.

It is reasonable to expect that the champions of the FIBA Asia Champions Cup 2017 will be propelled by any of these power pairings, but there is one sleeper out there who could steal the title from right under their feet.

What I am talking about are the hosts, China Kashgar, who - at least on paper - should have the deadliest dynamic duo out there: Darius Adams and Andray Blatche. They get their first real test - real because Blatche should have much more burn and certainly more touches in their next game - against Chooks-To-Go, and that is sure to be one helluva barn burner.
