Tahiti successfully launch 3x3 season

PAPE'ETE (TAHITI) - Fédération Tahitienne de Basketball (FTBB) kicked off their 2020-2021 3x3 season with over 75 teams joining the festivities over the weekend.

FTBB President Faana Taputu asked the support of former National Basketball Development Officer, Georgy Adams to arrange and help out the preparation of the competition launch.

"I was asked by Faana to organize the tournament and I was happy to help the Federation in launching this tournament," shared Adams.

The competition will run from August 2020  to June 2021 with plans to hold competitions in various cities across the island country.

"We are excited to develop 3x3 in the country because it is an up and coming sport we have laid out plans to run the tournament in various islands to promote the game," shared Adams.

"We have shared the competition schedule to local partners and were are looking forward to seeing everybody enjoy and experience 3x3," he added.

 

The competition attracted over 300 players participating in the tournament and Adams credited their partners with the successful launch of the event.

"We were able to get good promotion leading up to the tournament because we partnered with Radio 1 and Tiare FM Radio that consistently promoted the program we also had social media campaigns to promote the tournament," said Adams.

Current NBDO officer Arii Meuel proudly shared that the competition was well received and is optimistic that it will continue to garner more attention moving forward.

"We are very happy with the turnout of the competition and it was just a joy for us to see all of our friends and basketball family come together again. We are committed to promoting and developing basketball and 3x3 is also part of the plan," he said.
