Second phase of Youth Coaching webinar series resumes this June

Gold Coast (Australia) - The second phase of the FIBA Oceania Youth Coaching Webinar series and the Technical Official Workshops will continue this June.

The second phase is the continuation of a series of webinars held in May that will continue developing the skills of the coaches that mentor the youth.

"This is a continuation of our Youth Coaching course and the last five topics will be to fine-tune their skills in various areas of Youth Basketball," shared FIBA Oceania Development Manager, Annie La Fleur.

"The topics chosen are from the presentations we did before and based on our experience are the key areas that need to be developed in the region," she added.

The second part of the Youth Coaching webinar will include presentations from Gail Macfarlane (Individual Skills), Kaleb Sclater (Team Offense), Brent Tipton (Team Defence), Joel Khalu (Game Coaching) and James Bagley (Strength and Conditioning).

"Most of our presenters have a relationship with FIBA Oceania through the years with our events, courses, and tournaments. We reached out to them and are grateful for the partnership we have developed," shared FIBA Oceania Development Manager, Annie La Fleur.

The Technical Officials Webinar series will include referee workshops from Guy Richards (Pregame), James Boyer (Individual techniques), and a table official presentation from Trish Nicholls (Shot Clock).

La Fleur, a former WNBA Player points out the importance of delivering the webinars to the National Federations members and how it can help develop future initiatives from this experience.

"It's (webinars) provided another opportunity for us to deliver online training, it's not something we thought about in the past but its something we can utilize in the future," she said.

"Especially with the challenges in our region with the distance between our Federations, it's given us the opportunity of bringing everyone together for collaborations and discussions," she added.
