Relentless Ferroviario de Maputo extend winning streak to three
GABORONE (FIBA Africa Champions Cup Women 2017) - Three games into the FIBA Africa Zone 6 qualifier for the FIBA Africa Champions Cup Women (ACCW) 2017, and no-one can stop Mozambique champions Ferroviario de Maputo.
After beating former ACCW champions Primeiro D'Agosto in the regional qualifier opening day on Friday, and cruise past Botswana BDF a day later, Ferroviario de Maputo trounced Zimbabwean outfit Southern Mavericks 94-35 on Sunday in Gaborone.
Ahead of their fourth straight game on Sunday, the Mozambicans never gave Southern Mavericks a chance of balancing the contest.
They currently lead the table with six points, and are followed by D'Agosto who won their second game in a row by dispatching Zimbabwean side Lakers 96-26.
Meanwhile, ACCW reigning champions InterClube sealed a comprehensive 120-43 win over hosts Police Academy of Botswana to improve their record to 2-0 ahead of facing BDF on Monday.
There are two spots at stake for the ACCW Finals to be held in the Angolan capital Luanda from November 10-19.
