Referee clinics in Jordan,Bahrain organized to prepare officials for upcoming events

MANAMA (Bahrain) & AMMAN (Jordan) - The FIBA Regional Office – Asia held two separate referees clinics from September 17-20 in Manama (Bahrain) and Amman (Jordan).

Both events spanned across four days, drawing a total of 85 attendants (60 in Jordan and 25 in Bahrain) of both referees, commissioners and table officials. At the clinic in Jordan, in particular, 15 of the FIBA certified table officials that participated will be part of the upcoming FIBA Women’s Asia Cup 2021 - Division A, which will take place in Amman from 27 Sep to 3 October.

These clinics are a continuation of the plans set out by the Regional Office to improve the quality of officiating in the region, which in result will heighten the level of competition. Attendants were provided with the latest updates related to refereeing and officiating and were also scouted as potential FIBA and National potential referees as well as table officials for upcoming events.

Basketball continues to evolve and grow and those involved in all aspects of the game have to keep up in order to consistently develop the game which is what these clinics aimed to achieve.

I’m sure this clinic will be a dose of encouragement for all the participants, who certainly benefited for the four-day programme,”. – said Mr. Taysir Saade, secretary of the referees committee in Jordanian Basketball Federation.

“I would like to thank FIBA Regional Office Asia for organizing this clinic here in our country and we’re very happy to have this clinic especially during this pandemic,” said Mr. Karim Shakib, Assistant Head of Bahrain Basketball Association (BBA) Refereeing Committee.

These clinics in Bahrain and Jordan were the seventh so far this year. Next on the agenda will be clinics in Qatar and Kuwait.
