Perasovic announces his first preliminary squad with Croatia

ZAGREB (EuroBasket 2015) - Croatia head coach Velimir Perasovic has announced a 24-man preliminary roster for EuroBasket 2015 which includes most of the players from last year's FIBA Basketball World Cup squad in Spain.

Sharp-shooter Bojan Bogdanovic, the World Cup's second-leading scorer at 21.2 points per game, is among the prominent players on the list.

Bogdanovic is coming off his rookie season in the NBA with the Brooklyn Nets, and so is Damjan Rudez of the Indiana Pacers, another member of the World Cup team on Croatia's preliminary roster.

Barcelona center Ante Tomic and Anadolu Efes forward Dario Saric are in the squad, as well as members of Croatia's World Cup backcourt, Roko UkicKrunoslav SimonMario HezonjaLuka Babic and naturalized guard Oliver Lafayette.

Big men Damir Markota and Luksa Andric are the only two players on the World Cup roster not to receive Perasovic's call-up.

Several surprise inclusions are youngsters Marko ArapovicDuje Dukan and Toni Katic.

Arapovic, a standout with Croatia in last summer's U18 European Championship, is poised to play at the FIBA U19 World Championship.

Katic has not played for Croatia since delivering some stellar performances in the 2011 edition of the U19 World Championship while Dukan has pulled on the national team jersey at the U20 European Championship of 2011.

He shot to prominence at the University of Wisconsin, helping the Badgers reach this year's NCAA final.

Another to have played for the national team at youth level but not with the senior team is big man Leon Radosevic.

The 25-year-old Alba Berlin center last pulled on the Croatian jersey in 2010 at the U20 European Championship. He was a member of the team that finished third at the U19 World Championship the previous year.

Another player on the preliminary list is Stanko Barac, Cedevita's 2.17m center who turns 29 in August.

Barac became a senior international when he was only 20 but dropped off the national team radar following EuroBasket 2011.

Croatia are to host Group C of September's EuroBasket in Zagreb and will lock horns with Slovenia, Greece, Georgia, the Netherlands and The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (MKD).
