Park learning and improving with every game she plays

ISTANBUL (FIBA World Championship for Women) - Center Park Jisu is literally the centre of attraction in the Korean team that is playing at the 2014 FIBA World Championship for Women.

At just 15 years of age, the 1.95m Bundang Management High School player is by far the youngest player at Turkey 2014. But her performance in Korea's first two games so far have provided enough glimpses of her enormous potential.

Park Jisu spoke to FIBA.com.

FIBA.com: Tell us about your experience of playing in the FIBA World Championship for Women?
Jisu: I had already played in the FIBA U17 and U19 World Championships for Women. Before playing the first game here, the feeling was more or less the same as at the FIBA U17 World Championship. But when we started to play the first game, I started to feel the quality of the players that I play against. It was much higher than I had imagined.

FIBA.com: You are the youngest players in the competition here. What is it like playing against some of the legends of the game.
Jisu: I am honored to play against all these top-level players. It is a great experience for me and I am definitely doing my best against all opponents here.

FIBA.com: Do you think you would have played better if you had more experience playing at the Asian level?
Jisu: Yes, of course. I think it would have been better to experience the World Championship here, after playing more tournaments in Asia. But I already feel that I am improving in my game each day I spend here.

FIBA.com: What are your goals while playing in Turkey?
Jisu: My main goal is to gain as much experience as I can and get better.

FIBA.com: What are your long-term goals in basketball life?
Jisu: In the long term I want to play more international tournaments like this and I want to be a world-class player eventually.

FIBA.com: Who are your favorite players?
Jisu: I really like Brittney Griner from the USA team, and also Candace Parker from the Los Angeles Sparks.

FIBA.com: Do you know Ha Eunjoo (the 2.02m Korean center who was once signed by Los Angeles Sparks)? Have you seen her play? Have you spoken to her?
Jisu: Yes I know her. Everybody knows her in Korea! I always watch her playing and I played against her a few times too. She is very tall and strong! When I met her, her advice to me was to take care of my body and avoid injuries as much as I can.
