Official visit to the Presidency of the Republic of Serbia

BELGRADE (Serbia) - FIBA Secretary General Andreas Zagklis, along with the President of the Serbian Basketball Federation, Predrag Danilovic, visited President Aleksandar Vucic today at the Presidency of the Republic of Serbia. FIBA National Federations and Sport Director Zoran Radovic and the Serbian Basketball Federation Secretary General Zlatko Bolic also attended the official visit.

The purpose of the visit was to discuss the hosting of the upcoming FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments taking place next year. Serbia was awarded hosting rights earlier this year for one men's and one women's qualifying tournament that will take place in Belgrade in February and June 2020.

FIBA Secretary General thanked Serbian President Vucic for his support in organizing the upcoming Olympic qualifying tournaments. Zagklis said: "It is with great pleasure that we acknowledge the Serbian Basketball Federation as official hosts for two FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments taking place next year. With these Olympic qualifying tournaments, we are coming one step closer to Tokyo 2020, and I am very confident that we will experience high-quality tournaments both here in Belgrade and also around the world."

Serbian President Vucic expressed his confidence that Belgrade will be once again a great host of FIBA top tournaments and confirmed the government's support to FIBA and the National Federation in hosting other events in the country.

After visiting the Presidency of Serbia, both Zagklis and Radovic visited "Basketball House", Serbian Basketball Federation headquarters, where they were hosted by the Serbian Basketball Federation President Predrag Danilovic and Secretary General Zlatko Bolic.
