Our target is to qualify for the FIBA Africa Champions Cup Women 2017 - says Ahmedu

LAGOS (FIBA Africa Champions Cup Women 2017) - The FIBA Africa Champions Cup Women 2017 Zone 3 Qualifiers is set to take place from October 20-29 at the Indoor Hall of the National Stadium in Lagos, Nigeria.

Teams from the eight countries that made up FIBA Africa Zone 3 will battle for the slots on offer for the Final Round in Angola.

First Bank Coach Peter Ahmedu - who led the Nigeria Champions to a Third-Place finish at the FIBA Africa Champions Women 2016 in Maputo - Mozambique has his eyes set on the Final Round of this year's edition.

"We will respect every team during the Qualifiers but our goal is to be among those who will be at the Final Round. We have doubled our preparation because every team's dream is to feature at the continent biggest women club championship,'' Ahmedu told FIBA.basketball.

The 12-team showdown will take place from November 3-12 in the Angola capital city of Luanda and Ahmedu - who has served as assistant coach of the Nigeria women's team - is making sure to have the best weapons for the upcoming event.

He insists that his side will make fresh recruitment of players for the championship.

"We would like to strengthen our team but the final decision lies with the club management,'' he pointed out.
