VALETTA (Malta) - The newly-elected FIBA Europe President Jorge Garbajosa has embarked on his presidential bid promise to visit all 50 European National Federations with his first official stop coming in Malta.

Having emphasized the importance of unity and diversity during his campaign, Mr. Garbajosa underlined these key messages as part of his visit to the Games of the Small States of Europe, taking place in the Maltese capital of Valetta.

During the visit, the FIBA Europe President met with the President of Maltese Basketball Federation, Mr. Paul Sultana, who also holds the position of Deputy President of the Maltese Olympic Committee.

"I am delighted that my first official visit as FIBA Europe President is to Malta," said Mr. Garbajosa.

"The European basketball community is incredibly diverse and multifaceted – and there is no better way to experience this than in person. Each of our National Federations faces unique challenges, but we all have a lot to learn from our experiences. I really believe we stand to benefit from the unity and togetherness in our basketball family – and it's important to listen to each other to achieve that."
