PR N°11 - New dates and venue announced for FIBA Central Board meeting

MIES - FIBA on Friday announced its Central Board is to convene on 7-9 August in Tokyo, Japan.

The three-day meeting was originally scheduled to take place at FIBA's headquarters in Mies, Switzerland on 18-20 June.

The International Basketball Federation decided to stage the event in Japan, where it will choose the host of the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup.

FIBA made the decision taking into consideration the fact that the remaining two countries bidding to organise its flagship event come from Asia - China and the Philippines.

This change of location will maximise the impact of the decision and allow for large delegations and media in the region to attend the historical occasion.

Meanwhile, the Executive Committee meeting due to be held in Mies on 16-17 June will instead run on 18-19 June.
