National Federations Workshops set the stage for greater FIBA Asia action

BEIRUT (Asia) - The FIBA Regional Office Asia has been engaging members of FIBA Asia's National Federations since February for the continued development of Asian basketball.

As a sign of bigger things to come for basketball in Asia, FIBA Regional Office Asia’s Executive Director Hagop Khajirian and heads of the office’s three departments (i.e. Development, Communications and Competitions) conducted workshops with the different National Federations aimed at supporting and developing the Federations' capacities for governance, administration, event management and communications.

The first two workshops were held for the CABA sub-zone in Almaty, Kazakhstan from 13-14 February and the SABA sub-zone in Bengaluru, India from 16-17 February. It was followed by the SEABA workshop in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 3-4 March and the EABA workshop in Beijing, China from 6-7 March. The workshops were concluded with the joint GBA and WABA workshop in Beirut, Lebanon from 14-15 March.

The workshops met their objectives and better equipped the sub-zones and national federations to handle the range of FIBA Asia initiatives and events that have been set in the near future.

The workshop for SABA NFs took place in Bengaluru on 16-17 February

"A lot of good content and information was shared with us in this workshop," said SABA Secretary General Abhijit Sarker. "We will work on encouraging the national federations in our sub-zone to implement what was presented today."

"I thought this workshop was very helpful for all of us," shared the Secretary General of Iran Basketball Federation Ali Towfigh. "The ball now is in our court now."
