Mini Basketball Virtual Seminars launching in Oceania and Asia

MIES (Switzerland) - After a successful start among Spanish and Portuguese speaking Federations, the Mini Basketball virtual seminars are starting tomorrow for Federations in the Oceania and Asian regions.

The virtual seminars come as a second phase after the FIBA Foundation pioneered Mini Basketball Conventions in all regions of the world.

These Conventions promoted and stimulated playful grassroots basketball for 5 – 12-year-olds of both genders by educating on the importance of Mini Basketball as a grassroots movement and a tool to promote good health and well-being and game-based learning.

This second phase will give Mini Basketball delegates guidance to help them grow the Mini Basketball programs in their respective countries.

48 delegates from 20 different National Federations will attend bi-monthly virtual sessions, where they will be taught how to plan, monitor and develop a Mini Basketball Program that includes Basketball as a tool for social change. They will also learn how to unify stakeholders to amplify the Mini Basketball activities and strengthening the social impact.

Over the 3 months, the participants will learn the tools to grow the Mini Basketball movement and to help keep children active with fun and playful activities through practical and theoretical sessions. They will also share best practices and build connections within the region.

“We are very happy to see our virtual Mini Basketball seminars involving more and more National Federations. The Mini Basketball movement is not only about growing the basketball community but moreover, it is about seeing kids enjoying themselves in a healthy and active way” said Foundation President Horacio Muratore.
