Mini Basketball growing in Kosovo

PRISTINA (Kosovo) - Following their participation in the European Mini Basketball Conventions, the Kosovo Basketball Federation has been implementing a Mini Basketball program within the country, steadily growing the movement.

Their latest Mini Basketball Festival was the largest they ever organized and included over 250 girls and boys .

The purpose of the Festival was enjoyment and fun over competitiveness.

The Kosovo Basketball Federation is working hard to increase the participation of future basketball players, as well as to improve the quality of the game for both boys and girls.

The children played on three basketball courts and lower hoops (260cm) to make the game more enjoyable. They played with size 4 and 5 balls that were provided by the FIBA Foundation thanks to its partnership with Molten.

“Our Federation from September will organize mini basketball activities in all the regions of Kosovo. The goal is to have more kids involved in the game of basketball, especially girls.” Elvira Dushku, Kosovo Basketball Federation Secretary General.

"We are thrilled to see the excellent start of mini-basketball activities in Kosovo and will continue to work closely with the federation in the future months to strengthen this program further during the school year" said Radmila Turner, Head of Naional Federations and Youth, FIBA Europe. "This is another positive development following the success of HerWorldHerRules and the Youth Development Fund projects resulting in increase of participation among young players, particularly girls".
