Mini Basketball comes to Mauritania

NOUAKCHOTT (Mauritania) - The coastal city of Noukchott is set to play host to the 4th edition of the Forum Africain du Mini-Basket  from November 24 to 27, 2022.

It is a program organized by FIBA's Regional Office - Africa with the support of the FIBA Foundation that will have 400 children from 8 to 12 years (200 girls 200 boys), 20 invited coaches from 20 African countries and 50 local coaches in attendance.

Designed with key objectives to train the coaches, to develop the practice of the Mini Basket in African countries and to give a positive experience for the children so that they remain in the family of basketball, the program promises to be full of fun.

In line with the Basketball for Good idealogy, this program is in line with the three strategic pillars of FIBA which are basically to Enlarge Basketball Family, Empower National Federations, and to help increase Women in Basketball.

The FIBA Foundation is the social and legacy arm of FIBA that addresses the role of sports and particularly basketball in society, preserving and promoting basketball’s values and cultural heritage.

This forum aims to enlighten the coaches about the implementation of Mini Basketball.

Previous editions were held in Burkina Faso -2019 and Abidjan - 2021. At the Abidjan edition, kids were given the tools and taught the specific methodology to spark their interest in the discipline, while inculcating important values linked to basketball to both coaches and players.

Mini Basketball is a child's first experience with the game. Giving the right tools to the coaches will help them in making it an unforgettable one.
