Mexican Basketball Federation suspended

MIES (Switzerland) - FIBA on Monday announced the suspension of the Mexican Basketball Federation (ADEMEBA) following the decision from its Executive Committee.

Despite repeated requests and direction, ADEMEBA has failed to register Approved Statutes with the relevant authorities.

Consequently, ADEMA does not comply with its obligations as a National Member Federation under the applicable FIBA General Statutes and is suspended with immediate effect.

Exceptionally, in order not to penalize the players, the Executive Committee decided that:

- The senior men's national team of Mexico is permitted to participate in the FIBA AmeriCup 2021 Qualifiers on February 20 and 23, 2020.

- The city of Guadalajara, Mexico, shall retain the right to host and organize the FIBA 3x3 AmeriCup 2020 to take place in May 2020, and the respective 3x3 men's and women's national teams shall be permitted to participate in such events.

The Central Board will re-evaluate the situation in its meeting on March 26 and 27, 2020.
