Malvin, Boca, Argentino de Junin and Limeira fight for Final Four spots

BUENOS AIRES (Liga Sudamericana) - The hunt for glory in the Liga Sudamericana resumes on Tuesday night with Boca Juniors, Argentino de Junin, Winner Limeira and Malvin doing battle in Group E of the Semi-Final Round in Argentina.

The games will be played on the home court of Obras Sanitarias in Buenos Aires, and Boca fans won't have to travel far since their club is based in the city.

Argentino de Junin, another Liga Nacional side in the group, are three and a half hours away to the west by car.

Brazilians Winner Limeira and Uruguayans Malvin of Montevideo are the other teams in the pool.

Malvin, who finished top of Group A after winning all three of their games against Mogi Das Cruzes, Libertad Sunchales and La Salle, square off against Argentino de Junin in Tuesday's opener and Boca meet Limeira in the second game.

Argentino are led by point guard Franco Balbi. They fell in their first game in Group C to Limeira but then rebounded with impressive victories over hosts Aguada - last year’s beaten finalists - and Importadora Alvarado.

Malvin have a lot of weapons, including Mathias Calfani, the Uruguay national team center who had 19 points and 11 rebounds in their last outing, a 79-59 rout of Goes.

The most famous of the Malvin players, however, is Uruguay great Nicolas Mazzarino.

One of the best three-point shooters ever to hail from the South American country, he spent more than a decade playing in Italy's top flight before returning home to suit up for Malvin in 2013.

Mazzarino drilled 12 of his 23 shots from the arc in Group A.

Winner Limeira's Ronaldo Ramon played for the Dominican Republic at the FIBA Basketball World Cup

He is averaging 10.7 points per game in the Liga Sudamericana and shooting 54.5 percent (six of 11) from behind the arc.

Limeira entered the Semi-Final Round after finishing top of Group C.

Group F is to be played next week in Brazil, with Mogi Das Cruzes the host.

Former champions Uniceub of Brasilia and Bauru are other Brazilian sides in that pool, along with Ecuadorians Comunikt, a side that went unbeaten as the host team of Group B.
