Krstic fighting off rust to help Serbs into Semis

MADRID (FIBA Basketball World Cup) - Nenad Krstic didn't look like a 31-year-old with a bum knee who lacked conditioning or feel for the game as he helped guide the young Serbian team to an 84-56 victory over Brazil in booking their spot for the Semi-Finals of the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup.

"I'm not ready. I'm maybe 30 percent ready. But I just tried to give all my best for the team," said the Anadolu Efes big man, who made five of seven shots for his 10 points while collecting two assists, one block and one rebound in 16 minutes of play on Wednesday.

Krstic had just five days of training before the tournament because of a knee injury that also kept him out of two games during the group stage - against France and Iran.

Against Brazil, Krstic also earned some major points of praise from his teammates, including fellow big man Miroslav Raduljica.

"He has really helped me a lot to fit in and learn things," said Serbia's starting center, who was impressed with Krstic’s baseline spin move and lay-up on NBA center Nene Hilario from Brazil.

"He's got the moves. You could see he's 31 and still doing things out there."

When asked how he's feeling right now, Krstic said: "Health-wise it's okay. Sometimes I have good or bad days. But the conditioning is not there yet. The feel for the game is not there yet and it’s not going to be there in the next couple of days. But I’m trying to give all my best for the team."

Serbia will face the winners of the last Quarter-Final, between Spain and France, in Friday's Semi-Final.
