Guo sparks the Hunters

LIAONING (CBA/FIBA Asia Championship) - Guo Ailun is busy reminding everyone that he's going to be an important player for China when the Far East giants try to return to the top of the ladder in Asia.

With the Chinese aiming to bounce back from their shock Quarter-Final exit from the 2013 FIBA Asia Championship in Manila, point guard Guo will have a lot of responsibility to direct the offense and get the ball inside to the team's bigs like Yi Jianlian.

Guo, a 1.90m playmaker, has been wheeling and dealing in the Chinese Basketball Association play-off semi-finals for Liaoning Hunters, helping them claim a 2-0 lead in their series against Qingdao Eagles.

The floor general had 19 points, seven assists and five rebounds in his team's 106-95 Game 1 triumph, and he followed that up with 25 points, seven assists and eight rebounds in a 112-103 Game 2 victory.

The Hunters are just one win way from advancing to the CBA Finals.

Guo is just 21 but he has already logged plenty of minutes for China's national team.

One of his best games in the Chinese jersey came at the FIBA Asia Championship two years ago in the Philippines against India when he showed his scoring and passing ability.

He had 16 points in that 79-45 triumph.

In the battle for fifth place against Qatar, a couple of games after China's surprise elimination at the hands of Chinese Taipei, Guo had his personal best in the tournament of 21 points in a 96-85 triumph for his side.

Liaoning finished second in the CBA's regular season standings behind Guangdong, the side China's most famous player, Yi Jianlian, suits up for.

Guangdong have endured a nightmare start in their Semi-Final series against Beijing Ducks, losing Games 1 and 2.

China's national team Sun Yue has been influential in both of Beijing Ducks' victories.

He had 14 points and seven assists in a 114-108 Game 1 win and 14 points, five rebounds and seven assists in a 103-96 Game 2 triumph.
