Gilas guards move into PBA limelight
MANILA (FIBA Basketball World Cup/2015 FIBA Asia Championship) - Jayson Castro William is a name that is going to resonate with basketball fans in the Philippines for a very long time.
In a land where the sport is number one in popularity, 'The Blur' cemented his status as a hoops great in the country by helping his team finish runners-up at the 2013 FIBA Asia Championship, when he tore into opponents with his scoring.
The 1.76m guard was the team's second leading scorer at 11.8 points per game.
He either buried three-balls or knifed his way through the defense and to the hoop.
He was especially effective in the victory that punched Gilas' ticket to the Spain 2014, an 86-79 triumph over Korea.
William poured in 17 points that day.
The 28-year-old then helped Gilas have a memorable World Cup, playing in four of their five games.
William will have a chance to make the roster of new coach Tab Baldwin for the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship, which is to be staged in China.
Right now, he's providing plenty of inspiration for Talk N Text in Philippines basketball.

He had 33 points in a 79-66 triumph over Purefoods to lift his side into the Final.

William was seven of 11 from behind the arc.
Now in the Finals showdown with Rain or Shine, William is going to square off against one of his fellow Gilas teammates in Paul Lee.
Lee hit one of the most memorable shots for his country last summer in Seville, where they played in Group C.
The two players have been in top form in conference play.
