The biggest edition of basketball's top competition will be played in China for the first time ever, where a record 32 teams will compete in a 16-day basketball showpiece that is the culmination point of a first-of-its-kind 16-month qualification period (November 2017-February 2019).

The week also served as an opportunity for International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach to officially welcome Mr Zagklis - who was appointed FIBA Secretary General last December - during a meeting between the IOC and the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF).
